11/05 Act 2

As we managed to finish Act 1 in our last rehearsal on Friday, we focused this single period on starting Act 2. Luckily for me, I am in this act a lot more than Act 1 so I was kept on my feet quite a lot. This rehearsal was originally set to have "no scripts on stage" but that didn't really go to plan as most of us still hadn't learnt our lines so miss said we could use our words for this rehearsal but the Friday coming up is a strict "no scripts on the stage!"
Act 2 opens with the song 'My Name is Tallulah' and luckily for me, it was my time to show everybody what I had been practicing after school the day before for my song. I was a little nervous though and it wasn't exactly fun having everyone stare at you, especially whilst you need to flirt around with them. Also, many of them didn't know what I had in store so it was all a bit of a shock and a joke around. I know I need to take it more seriously but hopefully I will find my comfort zone soon enough for this song, hopefully as soon as possible! I need to work more on this song but for the time being we carried on. Just as I am walking off the phone rings and I have to answer it, so instead of fully going off the stage, I have to run into Fat Sam's office and answer it. This is where Bugsy calls for Blousey and I have to call out of the office for her, although it feels a little strange as it says we need to shout out of the office but in fact there is no door, so we just have to pretend we are shouting it a long way. After this scene, I only have one big section left but I am also on stage in quite a lot of the other scenes but I only have the occasional line instead. The section that really needs working on is the dialogue between Tallulah, Bangles, Tillie and Loretta. It doesn't slow very well and we need to add in some more characterisation and react more to each other, this will make it a lot more interesting. I will try and make sure now that I do this and encourage the other girls along too. When I got onto my bigger scene, well I wasn't so much looking forward to it. The first bit is ok but the section with Bugsy is really wordy so I have to make sure that I pronounce my words correctly and with a lot of volume so that the audience can understand what I am talking about. We never really do Act 2 a lot, as we mainly focus on Act 1, so I am not really used to rehearsing this scene on stage but once again we did just rush it through and moved onto the next scene so I will make sure that I look over this and practice in my own time so that I know what I want to do exactly when on the stage. We then flew through the dialogue and we managed to get through quite a lot before the bell rang.
I have realised from this rehearsal though, that I need to practice quite a few of my scenes from Act 2 in my spare time as they are quite challenging and I really want to make a good impression as my character. I will definitely need to make sure that I look over all of my lines for Friday's rehearsal as it makes it a lot easier to rehearse on stage and I really want to make the most out of the last few rehearsals that we have left and use the time wisely before the opening night!
